Smoke free

For someone who came from a family of smokers, I cannot be happier to read news that Singapore have extended the area of non-smoking to places like lift lobbies, market, car parks, ferry terminal, playgrounds, shopping malls, shop, factories, hotel lobbies and within five meter of entrance and exits with effective 1 Jan 2009.

Did not forget the nth times that my grandfather, dad, uncle and brother would smoked while driving or while watching TV in the living room. And many times of reminders that fall on deaf ear. I had suffered second hand smoke for at least 20 years.

Now that I am here for many years, I do appreciate the clean air at home and whenever I go out shopping, have a meal or a drink. But occasionally, you do get the smell of cigarette when walking behind a smoker. Feel like throwing a pail of water on their head. Haha...

Hope that other countries are doing this too..I read that Taiwan and India are also extended the no smoking zone too...Let this movement spread...."clap clap".

What now?

The results have been shocking....never in the history of BN that they have lost so many seats and the huge drop of votes....BN has lost in the state of Penang, Kedah, Kelantan, Perak and Selangor and barely secure Trengganu as at 6.00am...

What now?

1) Can the combination of opposition parties - PKR, DAP and PAS work together as a team?
2) Will the funds stop coming in from the Federal government?
3) Will the transition be smooth? Any removal of documents?
4) Will the big developments plan on the northern states as announced by the PM to go ahead?

Opposition Parties....back to you. Please change for the better of Malaysians.

Can't wait for the morning papers...

Changing Times

Reading the website http://www.malaysiakini.com/index.php and comparing to the results from RTM1 and Channel News Asia since 8pm until around 11:20pm....looks like the opposition is doing very well in the state of Penang, Kedah and even some part of Selangor....

Will BN pay the price of not listening to the people of Malaysia? I think so.....

Well done to Jeff Ooi....Bye Bye Samy Velu... especially our dear information minister Zam Zam Zam...

MalaysiaKini website is so so sooo hot that is down now....go to http://122.0.17.30/index.php or http://malaysiakini.jtwebsystems.com/ for their mirror site...

Responsible - 承擔

欣宜一字一淚的訴說出曾對母親許下的承諾﹕“我會爭氣,我會乖,I will try my best to learn to be a responsible woman(我會盡力學習做一個有承擔的女人)。”(明報網站)

How old is she? Did you say 20 years old?

What were you doing at this age?

My guess is that still not sure of the future...probably studying or just started working...What do we know about life and death at this age? Taking care of terminally ill patient at this age? Facing the future alone without your parents or any siblings around at this age?

So, as a parent myself, I am sure she had gone though a lot physically and emotional. In my opinion she is one responsible woman in the making....

他又說,青少年會模仿偶像,但自己是一個失敗的偶像,不成為榜樣,自己汲取了教訓,也希望青少年從事件中汲取教訓。

As much as I dislike this guy, he had paid a huge price for being a responsible man for once in my opinion....that I have to acknowledge him for it...

What can we learn from the two recent most hottest entertainment news besides the obvious????

Both are forced to grow up to be a responsible person in different set of circumstances!!

I pray that no matter what obstacles lay ahead, both of them will have the wisdom, family and friends around them to help them get over...and age no matter...

Crocs shoes in hospital allowed?

Should we be concern about this? I don't want to have 25,000 volt of static electricity on my feet.

I guess is a choice that the consumers have to made if he/she want to buy them or not but if you are wearing one, then better just to stay out of the hospital....

Swedish hospital to ban 'Foppatoffels'

Blekinge Hospital is to ban the use of the popular Crocs, or 'Foppatoffel', slippers. Experts warn that the plastic shoes can become charged with such high levels of static electricity that they risk interfering with important electronic equipment. Crocs slippers are widely known in Sweden as Foppatoffels, since they are imported to the country by ice hockey legend Peter 'Foppa' Forsberg.

The style police have already objected to the arrival of Crocs on Swedish shores, arguing that the country's most famous ice hockey star should have left the slippers where he found them.

But the hospital in southern Sweden has its own non-aesthetic reasons for banning Foppatoffels, according to newspaper Dagens MedicinThe problem was first detected in February when respiratory equipment used for two premature babies shut itself off and on for no immediately apparent reason.Technical staff at the hospital soon began to suspect however that the Foppatoffels worn by many members of staff may have caused the equipment to malfunction.

"Everybody generates static electricity. But it usually loses its charge, either by disappearing through one's shoes or elsewhere," hospital spokesman Björn Löfqvist told Dagens Medicin. But because the Foppatoffel is made of plastic, it acts as an insulator and the hospital estimates that the slippers can become charged with as much as 25,000 volts of electricity. "We are going to recommend that hospital management bans these slippers.

There have more than likely been more incidents - both here and at other hospitals - where people have not made the connection with Foppatoffels," said Björn Löfqvist.

Crocs slippers were banned from a hospital in Norway last month for the same reasons.

Schoolgirls competing to be No.1 in sex game

When I read the title from the newspaper, I thought it is a sex seminar quiz conducted by schools. In my heart was like, OK...school very proactive on this issue. Then, I read the whole article and I want to "pengsan" and *shock*, not shiok.

Schoolgirls competing to be No.1 in sex game

Those sex partners???? Hey these girls are some body's sisters and daughters who are 13 years old and 15 years old, OK issit?

Hello...where is your brain when it is most required???? I guess all this is not important as it can be brought for RM1,000....How about the possibility of being pregnant and the virus called AIDS?

I am equally *SHOCK* at the way the school decision to expel them..."cuci tangan" very easily. We are all adults and we(the school and the parents involved) should be giving them counselling and guidance to the students involved and not push it back to the society.

I sincerely hope this is an isolated incident and not a common game that the teenagers are playing these days...Aunty's heart cannot tahan.

Parents have the first line of responsibility to teach self respect and responsibility into children and not just emphasize on academic excellent only. The school play a equally important role in teaching them the correct values too.

I cannot tahan when I see sometimes when the parents keep praising the child for how many "A" he/she had when at the same time the child show behaviour of dis-respect to the parents and the maids.
